Katy Clark MP has initiated a campaign in Parliament for the banning of kettling. 22 MPs have signed a petition (called an Early Day Motion) saying that the police tactic of kettling protestors is an infringement of the right to protest and should be banned.
The Right to Resist campaign, backed by activists in the student movement and the trade unions, supports this petition (EDM 1257) – and we need your help to make it a success!
Alfie Meadows is a student activist beaten to within an inch of his life by police on the 9 December student demonstration. Students and staff at his university have produced a statement about the attack on Alfie.
Right To Resist is a campaign statement initiated by activists involved in the student movement that began in November 2010. As the police force launches its campaign to be given greater powers, we have launched the statement because we believe the movement needs to campaign against their powers.
